How to Measure for Bridal and Prom Gowns
First please take all measurements wearing undergarments only. Bust____ Inches, Bra Cup____ Bra Size____
Waist_____ Inches Normal Dress Size____
Hip____Inches Height____
Hollow to Hem____ Inches Weight_____
Special areas of concern: example: broad shoulders, short waisted, wide hips, etc.
Please measure your bust at the fullest point around the rib cage and fullest part of the shoulders. Please have bra straps tight or wear the exact lift up bra that you plan to wear for the affair. This can make an inch or more difference. Measure snug for strapless attire. Please note, bust measurement will be different from your bra size.
Measure your Waist about 2 inches above the navel, not as low as hip hugger pant styles are worn or stand feet together, hand on hip and bend to the side. That is your waist.
Measure Hips across the fullest part about 7 to 9 inches down from the waist.
Please note the measurements on our size charts are appoximate body measurements. They may vary slightly by style. Bridal wear in general runs small as most styles are made for "B" cup and smaller frames. Jumping up 2 sizes is not unusual for complete fabric coverage of fuller cup sizes.
Be sure the size that you choose covers the largest measurement, be it Bust, Waist or Hip. When in doubt about your size, Look at the size "down." Take the tape in all three areas and see if those sizes will feel comfortable.
The Hollow to Hem measurement is taken from the indentation at the base of the neck to the point where you want the gown to end. Typical Hollow to Hem measurement is 59 inches but does vary with manufacturers. Please have on your uplift bra, slip and shoes before taking this measurement.
Please have a tape measure available when placing your order. Most gowns have 1" to 1"1/2" inches seam allowance to let out if needed, on each side. However, sometimes notches have to be put in some areas of the seam to make it lay flat making letting out the seam not possible it is unable to be noted unless the gown is actually taken apart during the alteration process.
There are usually extra costs for sizes 18 and above in all bridal attire due to the cost of extra fabric for the larger pattern pieces.
It is recommended to order by phone so measurements can be discussed before ordering.
Orders cannot be cancelled once they are in the production process
